Welcome to the South West Pirates!

The Warrnambool Volleyball Association has a long and proud history of introducing players to one of the world’s most popular non-contact sports.

Our programs include junior and senior competitions, as well as representative squads for elite players. Squads train weekly in preparation for a number of state tournaments throughout the year, including our own annual Seaside event, held on the Labour Day long weekend each March, which is one of Australia’s longest running volleyball carnivals.

Warrnambool Volleyball Association prides itself on being an inclusive club supporting players of all cultural backgrounds and abilities.

We would like to extend our continued thanks to our sponsors.

Country Champs ‘25 Wrap Up! Women’s Division 1The women’s team again played in the top division finishing with the bronze medal in a competition where every game is tight and hard fought. We started Saturday with a very close 2-3 loss to Horsham and a 3-0 loss against the eventual winners Bendigo, before winning 3-1 against Mornington. Sunday saw a tight win against Horsham 3-2, and a hard fought 1-3 loss to Bendigo, before a tough 1-3 loss to Mornington. On Monday we had the Bronze medal playoff against Mornington, and the team was determined to pick up a medal. They fought hard to win 3-1, a very good result. In a very tight and tough competition at the top level, the team should be proud of their performances, and we look forward to next year's tournament. - Bruce Keeley (Coach)Big congratulations as well to Gabby Lougheed and Bella Van Vugt, who put on some stunning performances to both claim spots in the All Star 7 for the division! Men’s Division 2 Our division two men finished fourth overall, after playing their toughest games of the weekend in the semi-final and bronze medal matches. After a 5 set fightback loss to Sunraysia in the semi, losing 12-15 in the fifth, they didn’t have enough left in the tank for the bronze medal match which followed shortly after. Despite falling short of a medal, it was a phenomenal performance from the team, who dominated their pool and just got beaten at the finish line. A big congratulations to Tristan Gibbs, who took home both the Most Valuable Player for the division, alongside the Best Setter in the division. He was also joined in the All Star 7 by Joseph Ahearn, who played multiple positions across the weekend. Men’s Division 3Another Country Champs done and dusted. An amazing weekend with a tough division full of tough opponents. Saturday started with 2 losses but the team played really well and made teams fight hard if they wanted to win. Sunday we picked up our first win in the arvo to bump us up to 4th place and give us a spot in the cross over finals. In the Sunday night crossover we played an undefeated Sunraysia. What a game that was, and while we couldn’t manage to get the win the boys mad Sunraysia work for every single point taking the first set off them and making them work hard in a 4 set match. Monday we played Mornington for 5th/6th. All the boys put their all into this weekend and I couldn’t be more proud with our results. We had 3 boys playing their first ever tournament for Warrnambool, and I couldn’t be happier with the way they played and everyone’s favourite job - duty. Thanks to all the boys this weekend and the cheer squad cheering loud from the stands. One last big thank you goes to our team manager, Kylie Fowler, our weekend wouldn’t have run as smoothly without her. - Isaac Hussey (Coach)More photos and videos to come! ... See MoreSee Less
