Welcome to the South West Pirates!

The Warrnambool Volleyball Association has a long and proud history of introducing players to one of the world’s most popular non-contact sports.

Our programs include junior and senior competitions, as well as representative squads for elite players. Squads train weekly in preparation for a number of state tournaments throughout the year, including our own annual Seaside event, held on the Labour Day long weekend each March, which is one of Australia’s longest running volleyball carnivals.

Warrnambool Volleyball Association prides itself on being an inclusive club supporting players of all cultural backgrounds and abilities.

We would like to extend our continued thanks to our sponsors.

Country Champs Day 1 Update! Division 1 MenFinished the day 1-1 with a slow-start win before coming up against a strong Sunraysia side late in the afternoon. After an injury-impacted game this morning, they’ll look to regain some momentum before their final pool game. Division 1 WomenThe women finished day 1 with 2 losses, but both were incredibly tight contests, their first game being true to Country Champs 30-32 grind! With a win early this afternoon, they’ll take the rest of the afternoon off before crossovers tomorrow. Division 3 Men (As of last night)Div 3 boys with a few new players into the usual team started off really strong. Winning our first game at 8:00am 3-0 against Mornington. We are normally have a slow start to tournaments but we come out the gates firing. Into game two against Goulburn Valley we faced a much more challenging team. But the boys didn’t back down. With the most talk Ive seen from those boys in the last few tournaments I’ve coached. Even when we were down 20-24 in the second set the boys fought back to win the set. We pushed the 3rd set to 32-30 and took out another 3 set win. 3-0. Our last game for the night was meant to start at 6:30 but was delayed about an hour. Even the the boys were tired they pushed through. Playing some nice aggressive but simple volleyball we ended up with another 3-0 win. All the boys are keen to prove them selves on Sunday against another to strong sides. With another 2 wins tomorrow would keep us top of what is turning out to be a super competitive pool.Division 3 Women (As of last night)A tough first day at Country Champs for the Pirates! The girls fought hard in an incredible point-for-point battle against Macedon, taking the match all the way to a fifth set. While we didn’t get the result we were after, the effort and determination shown on court was something to be proud of.Our second match unfortunately wasn’t until 9 hours later, and the long break took its toll. Despite giving it our all, we went down 3-0.We’ll reset, regroup, and come back ready to go tomorrow for another big day of volleyball.Go Pirates! 🏴‍☠️❤️🖤 ... See MoreSee Less
