Welcome to the South West Pirates!

The Warrnambool Volleyball Association has a long and proud history of introducing players to one of the world’s most popular non-contact sports.

Our programs include junior and senior competitions, as well as representative squads for elite players. Squads train weekly in preparation for a number of state tournaments throughout the year, including our own annual Seaside event, held on the Labour Day long weekend each March, which is one of Australia’s longest running volleyball carnivals.

Warrnambool Volleyball Association prides itself on being an inclusive club supporting players of all cultural backgrounds and abilities.

We would like to extend our continued thanks to our sponsors.

Horsham Tournament Update We sent away 3 teams over the weekend to compete at the Horsham Volleyball tournament. 2 men’s sides and a junior girls side. Here are some comments from the coaches on how the teams went over the weekend. Congrats on the effort all the teams put in over the weekend. And a big thanks to all the friends and family that supported the teams over the weekend! Your support means so much.GO PIRATESJunior girls (Coached by Bruce): A great weekend of development for the u17 girls at Horsham in a division that was a lot higher quality than last year. After a great start winning the first game against Horsham u15's, the girls took a set off the Horsham u17's, and were competitive against the remaining 2 teams (Mildura Academy and Central Adelaide) but couldn't quite get the job done. The Sunday finals games saw a win against Horsham and a competitive loss against a very high quality Adelaide team who went on to win the division. The progression from playing junior volleyball at the start of the tournament to playing fast paced very intense adult volleyball in our last game against Adelaide showed how far this team came on the weekend. Definitely a team to watch!! Thanks to all the parents and assistant coach support over the weekend.Premier 2 men (Coached by Craig): Men's team had another solid tournament playing against a mixture of P1 and P2 teams across the two days. After a slow start the boys played some solid volleyball but couldn't quite match the top sides. After competing strongly, they succumbed and lost only twice over the weekend, to both the sides that went onto make the grand final. This resulted in them comfortably finishing in 3rd place. Everyone contributed across the weekend and each member performed their role. Onwards and upwards with Seaside the next target.Division 2 men (Coached by Jackson): Sl2 men's team finished 3rd overall winning 3 of 5 games, both losses coming from the teams which played in the final. The boys were struggling to get going at the start but played well after a tough first game, overall we were very inconsistent but still finished off the weekend really well looking forward to the next tournament and will have plenty of things to work on in the lead up to seaside next year. ...
